Medication Refills

In order for your psychiatrist to prescribe medication, you must be seen on a regular basis. There are times when appointments must be postponed, in the event that this happens and you run out of medication, a short term supply can be called into your pharmacy to last until your next scheduled appointment. If this happens, please have your pharmacy contact the office so the medication can be ordered. You can also contact the office and arrange to pick up a prescription or request that the office call your pharmacy.

There will be a $15 charge for each prescription that is to be called in before your next scheduled appointment.

Arrangements for prescription refills must be made during normal working hours (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday- Friday). It is important that you remember to arrange for refills at least the day before the prescription runs out. Please allow 24 hours to refill a prescription. All request for prescriptions must be made during the work week. The On-Call physician will generally not authorize refills after hours or on weekends and holidays.

There are some medications which can not be called into a pharmacy, the pharmacist must have a written prescription form and a new prescription form must be issued each time the prescription is refilled. It will be useful to talk with your doctor, when you are discussing medications, to determine if the medication you are taking must have a written prescription every time.
