Position Title: Parent Aide
Reports to: Clinical Supervisor
Position Summary
The Parent Aide works directly with clients and families to augment mental health or substance abuse treatments to children and their families who reqire more than routine office-based services. The program works in conjunction with the Division of Family Services
Minimum Qualifications
- Possesses a BA or BS in physchology, social work, community counseling, human services, behavioral science, or related field
- Experience working with families with children and adolescents with severe emotional problems may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Possesses a valid driver's license and a good driving record
- Provides proof of car insurance and a reliable means of transporting clients
- Able to get clearance from the Child Abuse Registry prior to providing any services
- Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills
- Possesses the skills and ability to work with people across age, race, and socio-ecomonic status
Position Duties and Responsibilities
Treatment:
- Acts as a mentor to the client
- Assists in the development of a therapeutic alliance
- Coordinates appointments between the client, the client's family, and the physician
- Participates in individual and family therapy and helps the family follows through with treatment recommendations
- Models appropriate behavior to the patient and parents
- Assist parents with providing a consistent and stable environment
- Assists clients with improving their academic performance by functioning as a tutor, mediating between the school, the client, and the parents
- Provides the parent respite thtough activities and outings
- Provides supervised visitation as requested by the caseworker
- Assists the client in following through with the conditions of probation (if on probation)
- Follows the Delaware code in transporting clients with regard to using child safety seats and seat belts. Will not smoke or permit smoking while transporting DSF clients
- Possesses the skills and ability to work with people across age, race, and socio-ecomonic status
- Performs other duties as required
Documentation:
- Maintains accurate progress notes in a timely manner
- Completes treatment plans in conjunction with the therapist, client, and family
- Completes Continued Clinical Services Form as needed
- Completes and submits billing information in a timely manner
Treatment Coordination and Communication:
- Works as part of a treament team with physicians and other clinicians and participates in medication reviews to provide information regarding symptoms, conditions, effectiveness, side effects, and compliance
- Reports any incidents or crisis to the supervisor, therapist, and/or doctor
- Follows the State reporting guidelines and PBH policy for mandatory incident reporting
- Maintains availability and responsiveness to clerical and administrative staff
- Attends supervision with clinical supervisor as scheduled
Continuous Quality Improvement:
- Helps with continuous wuality improvement efforts
- Understands and follows PBH policies and procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned
